145 years have passed since the our founding in the Tosa area. Jyoseikan has welcomed the royal family as well as a number of luminaries in various fields since its foundation in 1874 (Meiji 7). Many festive events like wedding receptions have also been held in our hotel, allowing us to strengthen our bonds with local people.

Serving as a hotel as well as a gathering place, we cherish all the encounters with our beloved guests. We always have gratitude in our hearts, and offer sincere hospitality to everyone. 1874 (Meiji 7) Foundation
1950 (Showa 25) Became a limited partnership company. Has been a member of the Japan Ryokan Association since its establishment.
1955 (Showa 30) Built a wooden extension: 11 guest rooms and a banquet room
1956 (Showa 31) Princess Chichibu stayed.
1957 (Showa 32) Princess Chichibu stayed.
1958 (Showa 33) Built a reinforced concrete extension: 20 guest rooms and 2 banquet rooms. Selected as a government-registered tourist ryokan.
1959 (Showa 34) Princess Takako Suga stayed.
1963 (Showa 38) Built a reinforced concrete extension. Became 3 story building, and added 16 guest rooms, a banquet room, a dining room.
1966 (Showa 41) Prince Takahito Mikasa stayed.
1968 (Showa 43) Built a reinforced concrete extension. Became 8 story building, and added 35 guest rooms, a large banquet room, a regular banquet room, meeting room, lobby, front desk.
1972 (Showa 47) Prince Tomohito Mikasa stayed.
1976 (Showa 51) Crown Prince and his Consort stayed.
1977 (Showa 52) Received award from the Health and Welfare Minister as an institution with an excellent food sanitation.
1978 (Showa 53) Showa Emperor stayed, (Emperor visited Kochi for a tree-planting ceremony.)
1979 (Showa 54) Princess Chichibu stayed.
1980 (Showa 55) Prince Hitachi and his Consort stayed.
1982 (Showa 57) Prince Hiro stayed.
1984 (Showa 59) Extension and reconstruction of the building.

1994 (Heisei 6) After an extension and reconstruction, the new annex Senju opened.

1997 (Heisei 9) Prince Tomohito Mikasa stayed.
